Till death do us apart
Witnessed something that is very heart wrenching yesterday at RWS.
Digressing a little, went to MEMA with JH yst cos we have free tickets from the Newpaper big walk. (Ticket price for museum + typhoon costs $11) Typhoon was a disappointment. All I can say is that they did a better job with their marketing than the actual stimulation itself. I expected to see more props but a white screen and some corals was all that I saw. (maybe we should give them a little credit for the occasional mist. not) IMO, it isn worth the money.
So we were leaving RWS when an asian tourist that is traveling alone (in his 50s) approached JH to get him to take a picture for him. The thing that he did while posing for the photo made me feel very sad for him. He took out close up photograph of a women from his pockets where there are many more other pictures of the same women and posed with it. From the way he carefully handled the picture, i’m assuming that the woman in the picture his someone that is very dear to him (his wife). And the reason he had to pose with the picture instead of the real person might be because she is deceased. Lets just hope that he is not some psychotic stalker.
After seeing his actions, it somehow made me feel that there is hope for long lasting love. Cliche as it sounds, a girl can dream can’t she.
A year in a glimpse
This space had been abandoned for the longest time. (as usual) Too many random things happened since the last post. Previously I was still getting over my ex, then enjoying the single hood. It’s funny how one year can make so much difference in one’s life. Basically, the past year can be summarized by a number of significant events.
Event #1: Last sem in Poly
The last sem in TRM was the most dramatic one. Given the numerous obstacles in projects and chionging of projects during New Year’s Eve. [Felt so sad for myself when I was happily baking on the New Year's Eve of 2012 - one year later]
Event #2: Graduating from Poly.
Up till now, almost a year after graduation, I never regretted my decision in going to NP. IMO, I feel that is it easier to score in poly with the prerequisite of LUCK. Thanks to the good luck that I have, I met 4 of the best project mates (turned insane friends) there, slogged my life away with them and got a GPA of 3.76. Which is quite an achievement given that i only got 3.5 & 3.6 for the first 2 sems. Parted ways with Pinky (work), seeing(NTU) and lilin(SIA).
Event #3: Graduation Trip
We started talking about the trip way before school ended to de-stress. Destination changed from US to Japan and finally to Taiwan. Had the greatest time with the girls while we were there although the trip wasn’t as long as planned due to the earthquake in Japan. But nonetheless, it was an unforgettable and irreplaceable experience. On our 3rd day there, we met a group of Singaporeans which eventually lead to Event #4.
Event #4: Getting together with Jia Han.
What else can I say other than FATE brought us together. I always believed in fate but our meet up was definitely one of the highest level of what fate can do. What are the chances of one group of Singaporeans hitting on another group of Singaporeans? High? Try adding “In a Taiwan club” then.
After convincing the girls that we should go clubbing together in Taiwan so that we can experience the nightlife of Taiwan (plus it will be the only time that we will club together), we were just minding our own business, drinking our own shots in LAVA, when a group of guys came up to us and said: 小姐,你們好。我們是從新加坡來的。今天是我們的最後一個晚上。And then we were all like O.O
And that was how our story started. On the 9th of March 2011. That very night, I also got to know a group of guys that are unique and interesting in their own ways. And eventually, the guy whom I thought was a shy, introverted guy (due to some misunderstandings) who was trying a little too hard turned out to be the sweetest, most reliable and meticulous guy. A series of events occurred in between – My 20th, Jia Han’s 21st at MBS, weekly friday outing with the guys, wavehouse on wednesdays, clubbing, MJ, hosting of my Taiwan friends. I stared developing feelings for him but brushed it off cos I was about to enroll into University and I wanted to experience the best of it and of course, keep my options open as at that point I could not be sure that he was the right one. Right before uni camps started on the 5th of July 2011, I decided that we should not put things off any further as it would be unfair for him and decided to give the both of us a chance. Time flies and we are one day away from the half year mark of our relationship. This relationship is very much different from before (in a good way) as he is a very disciplined and responsible guy who can’t live with mundane daily activities. Which means with him, we spend each day fruitfully and do new things once in awhile. Although we may quarrel once in a while, but I believe that nothing cannot be worked out and no differences cannot be ironed out as long as there is mutual understand and constant communication. Sounding all philosophical. haha
Event #5: New School – SMU
Just seconds before the closure for acceptance of universities, I was still faced with a tough decision. NTU or SMU. NTU is where many of my friends are at and it only takes three years. However, I prefer the culture, location and teaching style of SMU. So in the end, there was a slightly stronger pulling force towards SMU and that is where I am at now. First term in SMU is now over and I did not do well. In fact, I did quite badly. Wells, I know myself. It takes one or two lousy grades before I will start to buck up and study. Resolution for 2012: Do much better than first sem.
Surprisingly, university life is much more flexible and slack as compared to poly and it isn as scary as I thought. (SO I GUESS I FOUND WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES) I had a four day school week last sem and is going to have a three day school week the coming sem. Spells S.H.I.O.K to me
Event #6: Caderas!
Now, what is university life without a CCA. Thanks to my very supportive bf, I can once again join a dance cca. (Quitted Dancesports in Poly) Performance is coming up on 27th Jan. Training can be quite intensive (tue, thu and sat) but enjoyable.
2 Things that I am looking forward to in 2012:
1) Trip to Europe
If everything goes smoothly, Caderas will be going to Italy, Milan and Croatia for competition, salsa workshop and salsa festival respective. Exciting much!
2) Trip with darling to US
A 1 month trip to Eastern and Western USA! WOOHOOO!!!
So I just summarized a year into 1000 words! Kudos to me and goodnight to those random peeps who visits my abandoned blog <3
fallacies
When you forget me
When you don’t remember my name
Not even a memory
Somewhere in the back of your brain
I won’t be offended ’cause I always knew
That the day would come when
I’m not enough to make you stay
You tell me it’s not possible
No way that we could break
But nothing is illogical
Believe me…
Like falling stars over your head
We were bound to burn up alive
Crashing cars
I’ll never get over you,
Never over you ’cause
You are so beautiful, yeah
The world is turning
And time keeps on lingering on
The sun will be burning
Eventually you will be gone
I’ll always love you
Ohh, believe it or not
But baby, that’s not enough to,
Not enough to stop these…
Falling stars over your head
We were bound to burn up alive
Crashing cars
I’ll never get over you
Never over you ’cause
You are so beautiful, yeah
When it’s all said and done
I’ll be just a speck in the galaxy
Floating far away by gravity
Tell me it’s not possible
No way that we could break
Like falling stars
Like crashing cars
Like falling stars over your head
We were bound to burn out, just like
Crashing cars
I’ll never get over you
Never over you, ’cause
You are so beautiful
You are so beautiful, yeah
how terribly true. love is overrated.
Resolution for 2011!
The first step to achieving is to write it down! Subsequent steps arent as important anymore. This is probably why the list can be recycled
Nonetheless, it is still important to take the first step!
1. Maintain/better GPA
2. Visit my dear friends in Taiwan
3. Save $50 a month
4. Stop cabbing when alone
5. Drive w/o GPS
6. FIND A GAY FRIEND ( i cant stress the importance of having a gay friend enough)
7. Do sit ups everyday and get abs (because gong gong has it too!!)
8. Read entire series of Harry Potter! (all else aside, this is of utmost importance. no more procrastination)
9. Say no to impulses i.e chopping my hair
10. Get into Uni!
11. Enjoy last few months of TEEN life.
11 resolutions for 2011!
Ending off with a random picture of us with our Merry Xmas and Happy New Year SMILE
12. no mre chilli’s for 2011.
2011
Somehow, January of 2011 still feels like December of 2010. As busy with school projects and assignments as ever. Still dreaming about New York for grad trip. Missing the people and food in Taiwan.
The first day of the year was fun but dramatic. Sometimes i wonder what i did to the happy-go-lucky ex-boyfriend of mine. But you cant blame me for being cruel in a way as you were the one who broke three years worth of promises along with my heart. That gave me a reality check and made me realise that empty promises and lies are just not what I want. I really dont know what else I can do or say to make you understand. Part of me still wants us to be friends but the actions that you did are just pushing me further away from you. Letting go is the best solution and time heals as long as you allow it to. Take my words for that.
It would be wiser to end this chapter here and start a new one instead of filling your life up with blank pages.
On a lighter note, here’s to the last few months of teenage years
)
cont
After much procrastination, here is the continuation
Woke up at around 4:30am. But didn manage to catch the sunrise cuz it was too cloudy. & by the time we reach the place to watch sunset, it was already quite bright!
Jed was chosen as the photographer cuz he is so talented in taking self portraits. Even better than the only girl-me!
somehow things tastes nicer when u hear the rhythemic waves and feel breeze in your hair
was super pleased and proud of myself for the entire day. Although they only allowed me to ride for awhile. Once in a lifetime experience nonetheless.
Notice how clear the water is!
they blend well!
went to check out etc after that
That concludes the trip to green island! First time going on a trip with soo many guys. Got to experience how it feels like to have four brothers
Was quite nice for 2 days. Wouldn say that for long term though :X Thanks to them, green island left a great impression on me!
The Rest
I have to finish blogging as much as possible. If not i dont know when i would. Will only blog about the more significant events.
August 08 & 09, 2010: Green Island
Green island is also at the other end of Taiwan. So, we had to leave straight after work on the 7th Aug. I ended work at 10pm, left the hotel at around 10.45pm for the song shan train station. We had to catch a train at 11.20pm.
was also our last. pictures dont change but apparently, the people in it does.
Half way through the ride, all we can hear was people puking. I ate a pill so i was safe
we reached at 8.41am and it was too early to check it.
imagine seaweed + jelly. But we still finished it cuz it was so hot.
Apparently, a lot of prisoners were killed on that particular mountain.
Ironic to post this picture now. But wells. It doesn seem to be working.
I’ve never seen such a cute rock.
i always imagined starfishes to be orange. & fatter. weird species they have.
We were finally able to check in after lunch.
Rested for awhile & woke up for snorkeling. It wasn as good as the one in Kenting. Corals arent as pretty and there are many more people. But i still enjoyed the company. With jed and ray trying to kick the fishes and jerry drinking lots of sea water due to the laughing. But the worse part of it was the peeing part. I just couldn do it in the snorkeling outfit! Reminded me of the times when we were in pri sch and when we weren allowed to visit the toilet so often. Torturing experience. After snorkeling, we went back to bathe and sleep. I had a slight fever (maybe due to dehydration). but was fine after eating the medicine that lewis and ray went to buy for me
By the time we woke up, it was time for dinner!
Went for a night tour provided by the hotel after dinner. Shall update more soon! Tired
thoughts
i know that there had been a lack of update and i am not even done blogging abt taiwan after so long. But after all the things that happened, it is hard for me to bring myself to look at pictures now. It’s harder than i thought it would be. I’m a strong girl nevertheless
it just takes some time.
